About the Runoff Election

Why We Gotta Do This!

Georgia’s runoff election on Tuesday, December 6th will determine the fate of the US Senate and the rights of Americans.

Why is one US Senate seat such a big deal? This Senate election will determine if there is a 50/50 split between Democrats and Republicans or a Democratic majority. Majority control would give Democrats control over how the Senate works, making it easier to pass legislation, appoint judges, and conduct oversight that benefits all of us. This will have a direct impact on national policy ranging from abortion and gun control to LGBTQ rights, voting rights, and the environment. Additionally, the Senator representing Georgia will influence get-out-the-vote efforts in this swing state during the 2024 Presidential election. A lot is at stake.

Why are we having this election? No candidate for the Georgia US Senate seat received over 50% of the votes in November. So, a runoff election is mandatory to determine who will fill this seat. The candidates are the current Senator Rev. Raphael Warnock (D), who is being challenged by Herschel Walker (R).

It is up to all of us to help every eligible Georgian vote so their voice can be heard. Youth and people of color, who tend to be underrepresented in voter turnout, will be critical voices in this election. It will be a tight election; the votes of a few will impact the lives of many. Every vote counts!

  2. By Mail - If you are a registered voter in Georgia, you can request an absentee ballot up until November 28th. 3. Ballot Drop Off - After you get your Absentee Ballot, you can put it in a Ballot Drop Box or return it in person at any polling location during operating hours.
*IMPORTANT: Drop Boxes are now located INSIDE government offices, so you can no longer drive up to the Drop Box. And they are available ONLY during the hours and days while Early Voting is happening-same days and hours. If you previously put your Absentee Ballot in a Drop Box on weekend, late at night, or very early in the morning, you will need to make a different plan for this election.
